Perfect
She looked at her reflection in the mirror and smiled. Over the years, she had been on multiple dates but nothing ever worked. She often questioned herself as to why it didn’t work with any of them but rarely got an answer until she figured out that none of them was her perfect. But with Kyle, she had finally found it all. Throwing herself one last glance, she stepped out and headed for the dinning room.
The table was set with flowers, candles and his favorite wine. The chocolate cake sat in the fridge and the oven was keeping the dinner warm. The only thing left was the special soup that she was making for him – a delicacy native to her people. It was best served fresh so she had kept it for the last.
Tying the apron around her waist, she took out the main ingredients from the freezer and got to work. Standing over the pot, she thought about all the men she had dated before Kyle.
Adrian, from high school with steely grey eyes. She chuckled at the thought of how she had fallen for his eyes back then. Nathan, with his weird sense of humor and deep intellectual conversations. Combination she adored till the end of the university years. Luke, with a heart of gold with all its sincerity, generosity and kindness. He worked with her at the office. Everything seemed good but somehow she felt incomplete, unhappy. It always felt as if something was missing until she met Kyle, as if he was the missing piece of the puzzle of her love life.
She glanced at the clock- it was 10 mins to 12, time to add the most important ingredient.
Slicing her palm open, she let her blood drip into the concoction that had Adrian’s eyes, Nathan’s brain and Luke’s heart. The life that she had dreamt was almost in her grasp. Everything was in order, everything was almost perfect.
All she needed now was Kyle’s body to have her perfect.
Romance with a glimpse of dark.
